Updating Multi-Factor Authentication Settings for Microsoft 365

If you need to change your verification method for Microsoft 365 because you changed your phone number or got a new smart phone.

Update your Security Info

To add or make changes to your MFA settings, navigate to the MFA setup application or open an internet browser and go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup. If you are not already signed in with your account, the page will prompt you to log in. On the “Security info” page, make any needed additions or changes.

  • Change your Default sign-in method: click Change.
  • Add, remove or update a phone number: select the country code, enter the correct phone number and extension if applicable.
  • Delete or add an authenticator app: click the desired action button and follow the prompts.

Can't get signed in to Microsoft 365?

If you can not get logged in to your Microsoft 365 account because you can't verify your identity and authenticate with MFA, please visit WSU Tech Support in Somsen 207 on the Winona campus or Coffman Center 122 on the Rochester campus, email, or call 507.457.5240, option 1. We will assist you with resetting your MFA options.
