Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) is part of the definition of distance learning and is articulated in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 34 Subtitle B Chapter VI Part 600 Subpart A §600.2 (34 CFR 600.2). This requirement went into effect in 2021. The goal of this regulation is to ensure students in distance education (online courses) have the same quality of experience as face-to-face students.
