Summary
Software Center is a program on Winona State University's (WSU) Windows devices used to deploy and manage software applications. PC users can obtain campus-licensed software such as SPSS, Cisco AnyConnect, and Airtame.
Student laptops received during the summer of 2024 and employee laptops received during the summer of 2025, will not use this program to install applications from the WSU and will use the Company Portal app on their device.

Accessing Software Center
To install apps via Software Center, follow these steps.
- Open your Start Menu at the lower left of your screen.
- Type “Software Center” and then select Software Center when it appears.
- The app will open on the Applications tab.
- From here, select the icon of the app you want to install.
- Once you select install, the application will begin downloading then will install silently.

- Please be patient during this process!
- Installing applications may take anywhere from 2-20 minutes, depending on the speed of your network and the size of the app you are downloading.
