Images and videos taken in public spaces or at public events on the Winona State University campus do not require authorization for publication.

As a student, faculty or staff member, your presence in or around college facilities or properties, as well as at off-campus university-sponsored events, constitutes your consent to the capture and use of your image and/or voice by Winona State University and waives any claims or rights, whether in law or in equity.

Photographs and/or video recordings of students, faculty and staff members may be used for the use of education, publicity, and new student recruitment efforts on behalf of Winona State University via online, print and/or other media.

If an employee or student (or the parents or guardians of such persons who are under the age 18) do not want to be photographed or recorded, or have their name or biographical information used in connection with any such recording, they must submit a completed Photo Opt-Out Form (PDF) to the Marketing & Communications Office in Somsen 205.

When a completed Photo Opt-Out Form (PDF) is on file, the University will make every effort to honor your opt-out status. Once you've submitted a Photo Opt-Out Form, you are responsible for removing yourself from areas in which photography and/or recording is taking place, or to notify the camera operator of your opt-out status.

If you do not take steps to remove yourself or identify your opt-out status, you may be included in a photograph or recording. This will be treated as consent for the University to utilize that photograph or recording accordingly.
