Question

  • How do I complete the D2L Human Subjects Training Module ?

Answer

All undergraduate student researchers of projects being submitted to the WSU IRB are required to complete the D2L Human Subject Training Module.

  1. Using a web browser, visit winona.learn.minnstate.edu and login
  2. Select the Self Registration button from the top menu bar
  3. Find and select the Human Subjects Education Module
  4. Select the Register button
  5. Select the Submit button
  6. Select the Finish button
  7. Select Go to course offering Human Subjects Education Module
  8. Complete the course and quiz
    1. If you do not want to complete the course immediately after enrolling, select Done and the next time you visit D2L you can find the course under My Courses
  9. You must obtain at least an 80% score on the quiz
  10. Once complete, visit the Quizzes page from the top menu bar
  11. Select On Attempt under Evaluation Status
  12. Take a screenshot of the D2L page, ensuring your name and grade is displayed

  13. Upload your credential to IRBnet

Troubleshooting

  1. Use a Supported Browser
    D2L works best with an updated version of Chrome. Avoid using Internet Explorer or mobile browsers.

  2. Refresh the Page if the Self Registration Button is Missing
    If you cannot see the Self Registration button, reload the page or switch browsers. Mobile browsers may hide this feature. Use a desktop browser for best results.

  3. Search for the Course Title
    If you cannot find the Human Subjects Education Module, use your browser’s search function (Ctrl + F or Command + F) while in Self Registration to quickly locate it.

  4. Look in View All Courses After Registering
    If the module does not appear under My Courses immediately, select View All Courses and search for “Human Subjects Education Module.” Sometimes enrollment takes up to one minute to process.

  5. Confirm All Module Content is OpenedIf the quiz is not available, return to the course content and ensure every learning item has been opened. D2L sometimes requires users to fully view each module section before unlocking the quiz.

  6. Check Pop-Up and Embedded Content Settings
    If videos or the quiz won’t load, ensure your browser allows pop‑ups and third‑party cookies. D2L uses embedded content that will not display if blocked.

  7. Reopen the Quiz to Confirm Submission
    If your quiz score is not showing, go to the Quizzes page and select On Attempt under Evaluation Status. The score will only appear if the attempt was fully submitted.

  8. Take the Screenshot from Your Quiz Summary Page
    If your name or grade is not visible for your screenshot, reopen your completed quiz attempt. The summary page always displays your name, the attempt number, and your score.
