My College Roomie

Summary

My College Roomie (MCR) is a free online platform available to incoming Winona State University (WSU) students who have completed a housing application. The platform helps students connect with other incoming Warriors, explore shared interests, chat with peers, and begin building their WSU community before arriving on campus.

My College Roomie helps you start building your WSU community before move‑in. Within the platform, you can:

• Create a personalized profile highlighting your interests and lifestyle
• Connect and chat with other incoming students
• Explore student groups and communities
• Start making friends before move-in
• Learn more about campus life through conversations with other students

Roommate Requests

Want to room with a specific person?

• Submit your roommate request through the Housing Portal by May 1.
• Students who submit requests by the deadline can participate in room selection together. 

Access My College Roomie

Access My College Roomie (MCR) through the WSU's My College Roomie Site.

No additional registration is required. Students will receive an email invitation within two days of submitting a completed housing application. 

Sign in using the following credentials:

• Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
• Password: Your StarID password

Steps to Sign In:

1. Select Get Started on the My College Roomie page.
2. You will be redirected to the WSU sign in page via Single Sign‑On (SSO).
3. The first time you sign in, you will be prompted to set up Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA).

Note: Use your own phone or mobile device, rather than a parent or guardian's device, when setting up MFA. WSU recommends the Microsoft Authenticator app. 

Having Trouble Signing In?

Try these tips:

• Try signing in to your Winona State Email. If you can sign in successfully, your Minnesota State Microsoft 365 account is working correctly.
• If you can sign in to eServices or StarID Self Service, but not My College Roomie or WSU email:
  • Change your StarID password in StarID Self Service.
  • If you have issues changing your StarID password, visit the StarID Activation and Password Reset Knowledge Base Article.
  • Allow 5–10 minutes for the new password to sync.
  • Try signing in again.
• If you have trouble with MFA or are unable to proceed:
  • Review the MFA Knowledge Base articles.  
  • Contact WSU Tech Support by email or call 507.457.5240, option 1.
