Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 is Winona State’s email, file storage, and productivity solution for all employees and students. WSU provides email services accessible via the web to students, faculty, and staff. Microsoft 365 desktop apps are also available on all campus devices and available to install on your personal devices at no additional cost for all current employees and students.

Email address and Microsoft Login

Your Winona State email address is not the same as your Microsoft login.

1. Email Address:
   • Employees:
     • firstname.lastname@winona.edu (e.g. jane.jones@winona.edu) or first initial last name@winona.edu (e.g. jjones@winona.edu) if you have been employee since 2016
   • Students:
     • firstname.lastname@go.winona.edu (e.g. jane.jones@go.winona.edu) or first initial last name followed by a two digit number (e.g. jjones16@winona.edu) if you were admitted before 2017.
   • If there is more than one person with the same first and last name there may be a number included in an email address (e.g. jane.jones.2@winona.edu or jane.jone.2@go.winona.edu).
   • Your email address is not used as the username to access your email. You use your Microsoft login to access your email.
2. Microsoft Login:
   • Employees:
     • starid@minnstate.edu (e.g.: ab1234cd@minnstate.edu)
   • Students:
     • starid@go.minnstate.edu (e.g. ab1234cd@go.minnstate.edu)
   • You use your Microsoft login to access your email and Microsoft 365 applications.
   • Also known as your MinnState login because of the "@minnstate.edu" or "go.minnstate.edu"

Accessing your WSU Microsoft 365 mailbox

You can access your Microsoft 365 account by going to Microsoft online portal. 

To find this page from the Winona State webpage:

1. In the top menu bar, select Info For tab and choose your group (Faculty & Staff or Current Students)
2. Under the Resources list, select Office 365 & Email.

WSU Email Policies

• Current students and employees have a 100GB mailbox capacity.
• We cannot forward your WSU email to another, non-WSU email address. 
• We will never lease your email address to any advertisers and we take a pro-active approach to blocking unsolicited-bulk email messages that could clutter your inbox.
